The purpose of this safety plan is to:

Responsibilities
Job Site Superintendent or Foreman
- Oversee the implementation of the safety plan.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
- Ensure that all workers follow safety protocols.
- Conduct daily safety briefings and encourage reporting of unsafe conditions.
Electrical Workers
- Follow all safety procedures and protocols.
- Report any hazards or unsafe conditions immediately to site foreman.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- No energized work is permitted unless there is a customer signature, and a completed Job Site Hazard Analysis form.
- It is Tanco Electric’s policy that energized work can only be done by a qualified electrician, certified in NFPA70E.
Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment
Pre-Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
- Conduct a pre-job hazard analysis (JHA) to identify potential electrical hazards, including:
- Live wires
- Improper grounding
- Overloaded circuits
- Working in confined spaces
- Heights (overhead work)
Ongoing Risk Assessment
- Regularly assess risks throughout the project for new hazards.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Required PPE
- Hard Hats: Hard hats are required whenever any work is conducted above a workers head, when the worker is on a ladder, working above the ceiling, or on any sort of construction, or industrial work site.
- Safety Glasses: Safety glasses must be worn at ALL times while conducting any work tasks.
- Gloves: Gloves shall be worn in any circumstance where there could be injury to the hands of any kind.
- High-Visibility Clothing: High-visibility clothing is required in any low light working conditions, when working near any moving vehicle, or when working in or near any parking lot and roadway.
- Boots: Boot must be electric rated, safety toe, with no less than a 6” high ankle, and worn at all times. Boots are recommended to be of a non-melting material.
- Hearing Protection: Use hearing protection in loud environments such as machine rooms
- FR Clothing: Arc flash resistant clothing is to be worn only by NFPA70E trained and certified electricians.
- Fall Protection: Fall protection is to be worn in accordance with OSHA standards.
- OSHA: All PPE shall be worn in accordance with OSHA standards.
Electrical Safety Procedures
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Establish and implement lockout/tagout procedures to ensure equipment is properly shut off and not capable of being started up again prior to the completion of maintenance or servicing work.
Use of Tools and Equipment
- Ensure all tools and equipment are in good repair and comply with safety standards.
- Use insulated tools when working with or near energized circuits.
- Multi-screwdrivers are strictly prohibited in energized panels.
Working Near Overhead Power Lines
- Maintain a minimum distance as required by OSHA standards from overhead power lines (typically 10 feet).
- Contact utilities for power line location and de-energizing.
Emergency Procedures
Emergency Contacts
- Post emergency contact numbers on-site, including local emergency services, site supervisors, and safety personnel (See JHA).
First Aid
- Ensure a first aid kit is readily accessible on-site, stocked according to OSHA requirements.
- Designate personnel to be trained in first aid and CPR.
Emergency Evacuation Plan
- Establish an evacuation plan and conduct drills.
- Identify clear exit routes and ensure they are marked and unobstructed.

Investigation Protocol
